"Veganism is not about giving anything up or losing anything; it is about gaining the peace within yourself that comes from embracing nonviolence and refusing to participate in the exploitation of the vulnerable."
~ Gary L. Francione
Documentaries To Watch
Most of these documentaries are on Netflix.
NEW DOCUMENTARY - MUST SEE! WHAT THE HEALTH This film examines the link between diet and disease, and the billions of dollars at stake in the healthcare, pharmaceutical and food industries.
Below are a list of documentaries that I have watched, and I highly recommend them. Some were very difficult for me to watch, but I knew I had to watch them, so that I could fully comprehend what the meat production industry was truly about.
At first, I didn't want to destroy my programmed image of happy animals in the fields, until they went to some painless quick slaughter. That was hard enough to accept, but watching the horrifying reality was gut wrenching. I could no longer rationalize my reasons for eating meat. I am free of the "suffering" and "fear" that I once consumed. My mind, body, and spirit are in harmony.
Vegucated is one of the documentaries that helped me take the vegan challenge. One month is now 3 years! 🙂
Part sociological experiment and part adventure comedy, Vegucated follows three meat- and cheese-loving New Yorkers who agree to adopt a vegan diet for six weeks. Lured by tales of weight lost and health regained, they begin to uncover the hidden sides of animal agriculture that make them wonder whether solutions offered in films like Food, Inc. go far enough. This entertaining documentary showcases the rapid and at times comedic evolution of three people who discover they can change the world one bite at a time.
